(3) Project Title: Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene

Project Impact: The target community have got an access to potable water and reduced water borne diseases as a result of the constructed five hand dag-wells and five dry pit-latrines. Water sanitation and hygiene committees were established and received relevant training's. The prevalence rate of water related diseases decreased and the students personal hygiene increased in the targeted 5 schools of Dewe Woreda/District of Afar region.

(4) Project Title: SOKORO (Solar Installation and Provision of refrigerator for Health centers & health posts)

(5) Project Title: Promoting gender equality through enhancing girl’s participation

Project Impact: The gross enrollment rate of female student increased and drop-out rate reduced. The awareness of the target community group is enhanced on the benefit of girl’s education. The commitment of school teacher improved, & the men and boys gap reduced in the school enrollment and dropout rate.

(6) Project Title: Reproductive Maternal Neonatal Health (RMNH) Improvement /RIF/

(7) Project Title: Reduce Neonatal Mortality Rate and Improving Maternal Health through Reduction of FGM

Project Location: 5 Dalifage, Dewe, Telalak, Sumu-robi, and Hadel-ella Woredas/Districts of zone 5 Afar region, Ethiopia

Project Impact: The target group of people completely stop FGM/C type 3 practices in those project intervention Woredas/Districts. A total of 6,400 new born girls are protected from the worst form of FGM/C practice during the life cycle of the project. The Awareness of the target community increased on the health implication of FGM/C practice. In addition, community public declaration abandon of FGM/C were done. Community local legislation law on harmful traditional practice (HTPs) including FGM/C were developed and endorsed by the most honorable clan and religious leaders. Now a day, the endorsed local legislation law is functional at all level of the community in the project implementation areas.

The target community attitude and awareness increased towards GBV and harmful traditional practice (HTPs) in the project intervention area. Human right based approach (HRBA) promoted through community score-card (CSC) and properly functional in light of SGBV prevention. The responsiveness and accountability of service provider increased related to survivors of GBV & harmful traditional practice (HTPs).

(12) Project Title: Reduce violence against women & girls through strengthen Multi-sectorial engagement and responsiveness to prevent and protect HTPs including FGM/C incidences.

Project Impact: The implementation capacity & responsiveness of law enforcement bodies and service delivery institutions were enhanced in light of GBV incidences focusing on harmful traditional practice /HTPs/ including FGM/C. The target community awareness improved towards their negative social norms. As a result, the GBV and harmful traditional practice (HTPs) including FGM/C prevalence decreased in the project implementation area. Health facilities and health workers capacity were strengthen that to provide appropriate and relevant health services for GBV and FGM/C survivors.

Multi-sectorial stakeholders’ coordination systems strengthen to prevent and reduce risks of GBV through increasing the implementation capacity of grass-root law enforcement bodies, and service delivery institutions of GBV survivors.
